Winter Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Labor Day through Memorial Day)

The Borough of Sewickley Department of Public Works is responsible for the effective management and supervision of all activities relating to streets, leaf collection, maintenance of Borough parks, maintenance of the Borough Building and its surrounding grounds, and reforestation of the Borough. In addition, the department is on call for any emergency such as storm debris on streets, flooding, landslides, and snow and ice removal.

The Department works closely with the Borough Manager to set public works priorities and goals for the community of Sewickley. Our mission is to provide necessary services in a cost-effective, professional and timely manner.

Brush Removal

If you have branches and brush that you have removed from your property, it must be cut into 4-foot lengths and bundled before putting at the curb on your designated garbage day for pick-up.

Signs in the Borough

Please be aware that Borough ordinances dictate that no signs are to be posted on telephone poles or between the curb and the sidewalk.

War Memorial Park

The Borough rents 2 “Port-a-Johns” for the public's use at War Memorial Park May through October. One Port-a-John is located by the playground and one is by Shelter #1. The YMCA also has Port-a-Johns in the park for their Summer Day-Camp Program. They are not included with rental of shelters and are also marked with signs.

Leaf Collection

Fall Leaf Collection begins Monday, October 3, 2016, and continues through Wednesday, November 30, 2016, 7:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.  Leaves will be collected in conjunction with the street cleaning schedule, weather permitting.

Spring Leaf Collection begins Monday, April 3, and continues through Friday, April 14, 2017.

Leaves are to be raked to the curb line, and not in the street. Placing leaves in the street can cause sewer backup and entice children to play in the leaves on the street, which creates a dangerous situation.

Leaves should not be put into bags.

Brush, grass and shrubbery clippings are not to be mixed with leaves. Grass and shrubbery clippings are required to be bagged for weekly garbage collection. Branches must be cut to 4 ft. lengths and bundled. Waste Management, the Borough waste collection hauler, will not pick up branches unless this is done. The Borough will only pick up branches after a storm.

Leaves that are not put out for collection during the Borough's Spring & Fall Collection posted dates will have to be bagged at all other times of the year.

Leaf Compost

Leaf Compost will be available at War Memorial Park from May 1 through October 1.

Street Cleaning

Parking is prohibited on certain streets during street cleaning hours. Please observe the signs throughout the Borough with posted days and times of street cleaning. Vehicles must always be moved even if the street sweeper is not being used that day. The Public Works Department also uses those times for leaf pick up and snow removal. For streets without posted signs, the Public Works Department will clean those streets whenever possible.
