Overview
Sewickley Borough Council is comprised of nine members, three each from the three wards, elected for four-year terms staggered every two years.
The Council is vested with the legislative and executive powers of the Borough and is responsible for the annual budget. Council sets policy and makes appointments to the various Borough Boards, Commissions and Authorities. Council also appoints the Borough Manager.
Mayor
The Borough of Sewickley has a Mayor, George Shannon, who is elected for a four-year term who oversees and has responsibility for the Police Department. The Mayor does not vote on Council actions except in cases to break a tie vote. Mayor Shannon's term expires on 12/31/25.
